Who is Frank? The mind behind Deep Woods Design

My love for the built environment guided me to a career in the construction industry as an architectural designer.  This interest goes back as far as I can remember when I first drew an elevation our new house and then my dad's office when we moved to Minnesota.  According to my dad it really started with a visit to his friends architecture firm in Birmingham for lunch.  I then spent years building, managing, and destroying cities in my sandbox.

I also have a love for the outdoors.  Sometimes its exploring a local trout stream. Others its checking a new section of singletrack on my mountain bike.  When the stars align, my wife, and sometimes kids, will get out for a hike or backpacking adventure together.

So why Deep Woods Design, whats in a name?  Over the last 20+ years I've developed an aesthetic of my own.  I prefer to bring out the natural character of the wood rather than cover it with some paint.  I also try to reuse things that can still be useful instead of throw them in the trash when they've exceeded their intended useful lifespan.

Within these pages you'll find projects I've worked on, products I've made, and stories about the adventures I've been on with or without the people I love.
